Oct. 19th, 2022 09:19 amIt took to episode 9 but finally, I'm itching to see the next episode of House of the Dragon to find out what happens next. I enjoyed episode 8 a lot.
I've also been watching my way through The Bear on Disney +. It only has a short season but each episode is packing a punch.
Bros in on a special Limitless screening this Thursday at Odeon. I really want to see the film but it's not on until 8:45 pm and that's a big nope from me. I'll wait for the regular screenings in the next couple of weeks.
Milo has his nails cut at Simply Cats yesterday and while I was there I asked about his fur as he's not grooming his sides very well. The vet nurse suspects he has arthritis going on, made worse as he's tripawed and suggested he gets seen as he probably needs painkillers. So we've sent in an email to the PDSA to get an appointment and hopefully, they'll agree it's an actual emergency otherwise it'll be going back to Simply Cats and starting the vet bill up again because whatever happens, I'm not leaving him in pain.
It was flu jab time on Monday and I got mine along with James. We got to see a nurse we've known for ages and it took longer to have a bit of a natter than it did to get the actual jabs, no major side effects for either of us apart from a headache for me and James having a nap on the couch for a few hours, though that's nothing unusual for an afternoon lately. After the doctors, we went to see Kayleigh and Bodhi to hear all about their holiday.
My MiL is coming to stay for the weekend from Friday. It's a bit of an awkward timing as it's the christening on Sunday and after the ceremony, everyone is heading out for a meal. So, the plan was for my MiL to come to church then we'd have to drop her off back at our house as the meal is immediate family only. Which yeah, awkward and I feel bad about having to bring her back, but Kayleigh and Lucy really do want a small group only. But, as it is my MiL has had a horrible cold and depending on access at the church may not go to the actual ceremony either. I guess we'll see how she feels on the day.
What I will need to do is clear the garden path as no way will her wheelchair fit down there atm as it has leftover roof planks on one side and plants in pots on the other. Though to be honest, the whole garden could do with a tidy as it's full of fallen leaves and dying summer plants. Except for the rose bush, that thing is still flowering and seems indestructible.
ETA: Well looks like we're going to have to scratch the above as my SiL just phoned to say my MiL finally went to the doctors and he wants to send her to the hospital as she's not breathing right. James has been telling her for days now to make an appointment and she wouldn't, saying she was feeling better. I wish she'd realise that not seeking medical help when needed ends up with hospital visits but that never seems to sink in.

Date: 2022-10-19 04:57 pm (UTC)That's exactly how she feels. We're just back from the hospital and they think she has some kind of flu so is in a side room with barrier nursing going on. Her oxygen dropped into the low 80s when she took off her oxygen mask to take a drink of tea, and she must have been living like that for days now while refusing to see a doctor. And yet she's the first to stress everyone else should go to their appointments, no matter how minor the issue.
I'm looking forward to the Christening and meal, though I suspect Bodhi will cry the place down at the actual event.
The PDSA phoned and said he can have painkillers but not until we've talked to the vet, which will happen on the 30th. Thankfully, we found some of his old painkillers until then and after a dose of them, he seems much brighter.

Date: 2022-10-19 05:18 pm (UTC)Ha! It's not a proper Christening if the wee one doesn't bawl at at LEAST the deep indignity of the water (we had a Priest, when I was a teenager, who warmed the holy water and was literal magic with small humans, but they'd usually still squwak a bit :D).
I'm glad you're able to do something meantime, the 30th is a ways away when he's sore.

Date: 2022-10-20 10:17 am (UTC)That's a good idea, and the nurse in charge on my MiL's care was lovely yesterday so I think I'll get James to have a word with her. She needs someone to get through to her because this could have easily gone in a very bad direction to her being so stubborn and not wanting to bother the doctor.

That is magic. Though really, the crying isn't a surprise. I'd be a bit bemused if I had water poured on my head if I wasn't expecting it.

Date: 2022-10-20 07:14 am (UTC)Thank goodness Milo's nails are finally trimmed. Here's hoping the appointment you asked for gets signed off.
And I hope the christening goes well and Kayleigh and Lucy get to have the celebration they want for Bodhi!

Date: 2022-10-20 10:14 am (UTC)We've an appointment to talk to the vet on the 30th, which seems ages away. But, the person who set it up seemed very positive he'd be given some painkillers then.
Kayleigh and Lucy are running around trying to get Bodhi shoes, even though she's not actually walking properly yet. I suspect they'll be glad when the actual service part is over.

Date: 2022-10-20 12:15 pm (UTC)Yay for flu shot! I still need to schedule mine, now that both the covid booster and weekend away are over.
I hope everything is going well with your m-i-l. *heads to next post to see*

Date: 2022-10-30 04:44 pm (UTC)They do like to make us worry. Milo's appointment is tomorrow so hopefully, he'll be prescribed painkillers. The ones we've been giving him have helped a lot, but sadly he's done to the last one now.
Well, my MiL is still in hospital, so little has changed.

Date: 2022-10-30 05:16 pm (UTC)I'm sorry to hear that about your m-i-l. Have they at least figured out what's wrong with her? (Which you've probably already posted about and I'll see when I catch up. o_O)

Date: 2022-10-21 05:58 pm (UTC)Yay for being flu jabbed!
Oh dear, that sounds quite worrying about your MiL! I hope she won't have to stay too long at the hospital. Though maybe having to might help her finally realise how silly it is to not call the doctor before it's too late!

I really hope so as all of this could have been stopped if she'd gone to the doctor when she first started feeling ill. I do feel for her as she's been stuck in that room for nearly a week now but can't get away from the fact that she really doesn't help herself.

Date: 2022-10-26 02:26 pm (UTC)I'm going to look for one of those, it sounds just what Milo needs.
It's sad when they can't groom as much as they used to. Cats are such dignified -- well usually, and fussy animals it's heartbreaking when they get a bit scruffy.
