Jan. 10th, 2023 03:30 pmI got a parcel from
sperrywink. It contained the most beautiful Christmas ornaments plus Clint and Bucky badges

Thank you so much, K!
I keep meaning to show the beautiful shawl
turlough sent me, too. I'd take a leaf out of her book and do a beautiful outside shot, but it's chucking it down right now, so one inside will have to do. It's such incredible work, my photos don't do it justice.
I still love the candy cane cut outs, which I'm sure have an actual technical term, but cut outs seem to fit.

Thank you so much, Turlough!
And a last thank you to everyone who sent cards and gifts Christmas just gone, you all helped to make it fantastic ♥
I posted my first Snowflake challenge yesterday and now have multiple tabs to check out because people are linking to such fun and interesting things. If only there were more hours in the day to investigate them all.
It was also my SiL's birthday yesterday, and James' last day of annual leave. First thing we dropped off my SiL's birthday card but didn't stop as she'd gone out after dropping the bairns off at school and my MiL was still sleeping. So, instead, we went for a latte at Costa, nipped to Asda and came home to reorganise the kitchen cupboards. I know, my life is so exciting.
I did warn James I couldn't work on them all afternoon as I needed to post the challenge, but it didn't take as long as I expected and now a lot of old cluttery things have been disposed of and things arranged in a much more logical fashion. I also found the stick blender which I thought had been lost forever and actually got all the mugs and glasses in the same cupboard. I also found an old panettone which must have been from years ago as it was as hard as a rock when I tried to crumble it up for the birds.
Today I've been putting the Christmas decorations back in the cupboard, which is harder than it sounds as the cupboard they go into is in James' craft room and that's full of stuff that also needs to be put away. For example, the offcuts from the new bedroom carpet are in there, so I picked those up and underneath were a load of antlers which were leaning against the suitcases, which were also next to a pile of wood that's intended for burning. I'm getting there, shifting one thing to shift another to put that away to then be able to add things to the cupboard but it's taking a while.
It also didn't help that I had to completely unblock the hoover. The pipe was jammed with a combination of cat hair and sawdust. No wonder it wasn't cleaning the carpet very well.
But, nearly everything is done now, the sparkle deer herd put away for another year, so in all, it's been a productive day.

Date: 2023-01-10 06:53 pm (UTC)I got through the challenge to the first entry on page 2 yesterday, refreshed page 2 today and when I got to the end saw that there was 3 & 4, lol! I was like *head desk* I'm never getting through them all!
I hate when cleaning one thing leads to having to clean another and another, but good on you for getting so much done!

Date: 2023-01-11 07:29 am (UTC)Ahahaha, I know. There are so many great links and my tab list is out of control in terms of things I want to check out. And that's just for the responses I personally responded to and not the ones the other mods handled.
The spare bedroom/craftroom drove me mad yesterday. It's not the biggest space so involved a lot of moving stuff to get to other stuff. I need to do the finishing touches today but it's so much better than it was.

Date: 2023-01-11 07:57 pm (UTC)I'm so glad you like your shawl! They do look like cutouts, don't they?! In Swedish they're called hålmönster "hole pattern" which is very apt since they're made by leaving holes in the knitting. The English term, lace or lacework, isn't nearly as descriptive.
Congratulations to getting your kitchen cupboards organised! There is something so satisfying about organising cupboards I've always thought. And yay! for finding the lost stick blender!
That's the problem with organising - one thing leads to another and before you know it you're ankle deep in stuff that needs moving before you can even start with your original project!

Date: 2023-01-12 08:13 am (UTC)My shawl is beautiful and amazingly warm considering it doesn't feel heavy when picked up. I agree, hole pattern seems much more apt than lace or lacework.
It took some reorganising but the layout makes much more sense now. I was so happy when I came across the stick blender, it's not something I use regularly but it's a miss when I do want to make soup or smooth sauces.

Exactly! I'm nearly done with upstairs but it's taken a while. Sometimes I wish I had a nice big basement to use for storage, but then again, no doubt it would become a disorganised mess too.

Date: 2023-01-12 12:46 pm (UTC)Sounds like you did a solid piece of work getting things sorted out - it's always exhausting to even contemplate starting when you know that doing one thing means you have to have done x, y, and z things FIRST, so ALL the cheerleading to you on getting that done.
I had to laugh about the pannettone - I think they end up in the cupboard because they feel too big to start into, because they start to go stale once you open them and then it's a waste, but then it's no good to ignore them, either. They do (as long as they're not rock hard) make a pretty good bread and butter pudding when they're stale though.

Exactly. At least as it was upstairs I knew I could take breaks if needed, but it was still a slog. At least it's done now, and once I've done a tip run tomorrow it'll look great in all of the rooms.
And you're so right about the panettone. They're something that seem meant for Christmas so I buy one, and then suddenly am faced with this huge cake/bread thing that does go stale as soon as you open the packaging. I'll have to try and remember your bread and butter pudding tip for next Christmas. Because you know I'll still buy one despite the panettone rock from this time *g*
