We went for our usual walk this morning, to the beach today, and you could tell James' painkilling injections had fully kicked in as he was flying along the prom, and didn't need to use his walking stick at all. It was nice to see and I really hope it's the start of a period of him feeling good, especially as he's back to work next week.
Yesterday was a long day, but with some fun things including going to see Blue Beetle which I really enjoyed a lot. I have no idea about the source canon but the film itself was a lot of fun with characters I found engaging.
After that, we went to the park and then picked up a To Good To Go bag from a sushi place which will be eaten for tea later today. Two days ago I had one of the best grocery bags from TGTG I've ever had. It was a new to me place, just a shop attached to a local garage, but they had a rating of 4.8/5 and I found out why as for less than £4 I got two very full bags of a variety of groceries, bakery stuff, meat, milk, oat milk, apple juice, cake, cookies, just so much, and randomly, also two ready made Peppa Pig jellies. I'll order from there again for sure.
I finished my catch-up binge-watch of Chicago Med last night. I don't think anyone who reads me actually watches the show but just in case,
While Will dipped in and out in terms of being a character who I actually liked, he has been there from the beginning so it was sad to know he was leaving. I was glad he ended up with Natalie, again, their relationship was one that annoyed me at times, but it did feel right that he went to her when he had to leave Med. I'll miss him next season.
Next binge-watch watch catch-up is The Good Doctor, which we're three seasons behind.
While hacking at the jungle that is my garden I found out I have raspberries! I hadn't been able to see them behind the courgette plants, but once I'd shifted those there the raspberries were. Not many and some were mushy due to not being picked for too long. But they tasted delicious, and never made the house.
Milo's ashes came back last week.
We were told it would take up to ten days to get him back, and in the end it was only three days. He came home in a nice wooden box with his name on and now he's next to his sisters and Tex. I know it's something not everyone is comfortable with, but for us, having them all home is important and I was very glad he came back so fast.

Date: 2023-08-29 12:16 pm (UTC)The food was excellent. With the sushi I got two bags, each one had a big bowl, a tray of sushi and a side but you don't get to pick, it's a lucky dip with what is left at the end of the day.
For my bowl, I had noodles and tofu dumplings while James had shredded beef and rice, so that worked out beautifully. I did have to laugh as one of the sides was sliced curd which I thought was delicious, and James thought was the worst thing he'd ever tasted *G*

Date: 2023-08-29 07:19 am (UTC)Raspberries are... interesting. Mine have produced an occasional fruit, which is nice, and tasty, but nothing worth making the effort to pick in an official kind of way. But they are Not Dead, which means I can have higher hopes for next year. I *think* I may have restricted my raspberries to autumn-fruiting only, which means I can cut them right back soon, nice and easy.

Date: 2023-08-29 12:13 pm (UTC)I hope so too.
These are the first raspberries I've planted and I only bought one cane from Asda so wasn't sure if it would actually grow, so finding actual fruit was a nice surprise. I have heard they spread easily though, so will see if I have multiple canes next year.

What a find! Next year you will hopefully have ten times as much of them! Rasberries are so, so tasty. I think I like them better than strawberries.
Good to hear you already have Milo home. I don't have Lancecat's ashes but I have a shelf in my bedroom dedicated to photos of him (and of Sinbad, my first cat).

Date: 2023-08-30 07:54 am (UTC)I did get some excellent bags last week. It makes up for the not-so-good ones I've had in the past, though even the multiple turnip bag got eaten in the end.
I was so surprised to find the raspberries. I think I'm going to dedicate a bed to them next year, though from what people say, they may take a bed for themselves anyway. I keep meaning to say, I also have a few red sunflowers all over the garden which must have self-seeded from the ones I planted from seeds you sent a few years ago. Those were lovely surprises too.
I like you have a shelf for Sinbad and Lancecat. They should be remembered fondly.
