Jul. 19th, 2024 04:14 pmIt seems my Strictly spark isn't totally gone, as when I saw Nikita had announced a solo tour next year I signed up for the pre-sale within a minute. Though, boo on him having a date at a Newcastle theatre and not Sunderland.
It's a gorgeous day today, so we've been for a drive to the beach. We took my MiL as she phoned yesterday, and sounded really down, saying she never gets out of the house, and she was sick of seeing the same four walls. So, we took her to Company first so we could all check out any bargains and then off to the coast where we had iced lattes and jacket potatoes from the beach front café. Though, to be honest, the jackets were a bit heavy for such a hot day.
Before we picked my MiL up, though, it was what was supposed to be the final meeting for the weight management class, where normally we'd be discharged and sent off alone. But, Rosie confirmed that we could resign for another six months, which is great.
When we got there, one of the ladies from Monday class was also waiting, as she'd been sent a reminder about having an appointment at the same time as our joint one. I've no idea how it happened, but it turned out that Rosie's phone had sent out 10am reminder texts to everyone signed up to the programme, whether they had an appointment or not. Thankfully, it seems most people realised it was a mistake, but I do wonder if more people turned up after we left.
Anyway, results, which I'll cut for
My grand total lost for the first six months was five stone, two pounds, which I'm pretty thrilled about. James' total was two stones, two pounds, which he would have been happy about except he'd put on two pounds since last time he'd weighed himself ( We go to Boots every weekend and use their scales to keep track, we're not supposed to, and the programme says to only weigh in at each six week check in point, but yeah, doing that didn't last long, and I like having the printed slips to remind myself how far we've come )
Rosie also mentioned that as we've both been so successful she may ask for quotes from us to use as part of the programme literature that's given to the newbies. Which isn't as problem as long as she just wants quotes and not photos, too.
Technically, we've both finished the programme now but Rosie said she'd send links to re register, and I can go to the Monday class even if I'm not fully signed by next week. After discussing how the programme had helped, and me mentioning the fluid loss in my legs, she's also going to send a link to some kind of exercise that's apparently very beneficial in terms of the lymph system. So, that should be interesting to add to my at home routines.
So yes, a good meeting all in all.

Date: 2024-07-19 05:24 pm (UTC)The drive to the beach sounds lovely.
I'm glad you did so well with the class and that you can sign up for another 6 months. It's great that Rosie can hook you up with exercises that are good for the lymph system! Also, I'm impressed that you guys are gonna be quoted in the literature!! * g*

Date: 2024-07-20 04:05 pm (UTC)I do like how the programme is structured. I never thought I'd do, never mind actually enjoy -- well sometimes, an exercise class. But being with others at my level is such a good thing.
Plus, I always enjoy the talks. While I know about lots of the topics, I always find out something new. For example, I knew very little about ultra processed food and why it's so bad. Sadly, it's also something hard to get rid of as UPF is so convenient, and often, very tasty.
I wish I could remember what Rosie called the lymph system exercises, as I'm still waiting for the link. Hopefully, I'll get it on Monday at class.

Date: 2024-07-20 04:13 pm (UTC)It was a lovely drive to the beach. It was such a good day, sunny and warm. Also, the day before our local schools break up for the summer, so the last time it'll be relatively quiet.
that you guys are gonna be quoted in the literature!! * g*
I know! I'll have to think of a quote that makes me sound good, and not just winging things on a weekly basis *g*

Date: 2024-07-21 08:26 am (UTC)It is sad. But what makes it worse for her is she actually lives with my SiL and her family, and yet they very rarely take my MiL out. I understand why to an extent as they don't drive and she's in a wheelchair and needs oxygen. But I do think they could make the effort at once a month at least.
Thank you! I'm glad we can sign again as the programme really has been good. Some teething issues with Rosie being new and just starting running her own classes. But, we've all been rubbing along nicely together, even with the minor hitches.

Date: 2024-07-22 07:40 pm (UTC)That's so kind of you cheering your MiL up with a trip to the beach.
Congratulations to your awesome weight loss both of you! So cool that Rosie thinks you're both worthy of being quoted as good examples to newbies.
I'd no idea there could be exercises that were good for your lymph system. I'll keep my fingers crossed they will work for you too.
