YAY! 1114 comments and still rising! You guys rock! I've been scanning the threads today and there's some good stuff in there, so thank you all for indulging me! I'm going to steal an idea from [livejournal.com profile] livelikeumeanit because she has great ideas and offer ficlets to my two star commenters [livejournal.com profile] josysleo and [livejournal.com profile] sheherazade_ii. If you want something drop me a comment with pairing and situation and I'll get it done.

QAF was wonderful last night. Lots of sex, lots of emotion and lots of Brian which is always good. It's especially good when you watch at your computer with earphones in, it really draws you into the action ;)

Now I have to rant on a little. I rejoined one of my TS mailing lists this week and already they're posting stuff that pisses me off. There seems to be a deep mistrust of LJ by some people and I don't get it. Sure there's bad stuff on here, but that's the same anywhere, including lists. To write off LJ users as loons is so short sighted. I love LJ, so much more than lists and you get a lot back if you're prepared to look around and find people and communities that suit you. It's just maddening you know, and it's not like it's an isolated incident. I've seen the view that LJ is this rubbish thing so many times and it's not. For example, it's a Sentinel list this time ( in fact it has been every time, maybe that's saying something ) and on those lists people keep saying how people are leaving TS fandom and not writing. Yet on [livejournal.com profile] castalie's and I comm we have people writing every week. I know in terms of the fandom we're a tiny speck, but the stories are there, and it's because of LJ. Same with the TS talk and recs comm. So why the hell rubbish something that's an asset to fandom. You don't like it, that's fine. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but to look at one comm that most people dislike anyway and think it represents the whole of fannish LJ is wrong.

Gah. Steps off soapbox.

I found out this morning our neighbour died. Her husband went into hospital on Fri and she collapsed and died on Sat. She was old and had cancer but it was still a shock. We're weren't friends or anything but we'd pass the time of day when we passed in the street. I feel sorry for her husband mostly, he's old and sick, somehow I don't think he'll be coming back to live alone.

On that cheery note I'm off, plan is to get the ficathon done, I need something crossed from my list.

I stuck up for us...

Not that anyone paid any attention at all to my post pointing out that there's as much variety in LJ as there is on mailing lists. There's an old saying -- "My mind's made up; don't confuse me with facts." It suits some people to a T.

As for inboxes full from mailing lists -- it might be worth it to you to go 'no-mail', if you have a fast Internet connection. I'm no-mail in SA and, when I have time, I go to the Message Archive, and read only the posts I'm interested in. It might work for you.

Yeah I saw your post, thank you :)

I just get so frustrated, I know there's bad stuff on LJ but it's the same on lists. Yet a lot of people won't acknowledge that.

I probably will go to no mail, it'll save on all the posts that I have no interest in at all.
