Apr. 16th, 2006 11:10 amTwo things before I post about my day yesterday.
First. I really like David Tennant as the Doctor. He's all smiley and wordy and just wonderful. Second. Coming online and reading comments where I've been given my own Chris and a JC to rim him is the best way to start the day *fans self* KC, Den, feel free to spam my journal at will *g*
We had a fun day yesterday. I may have given the impression that going out with nanna is a chore, but it isn't at all. I enjoy her company and love her a lot, it's just, she says inappropriate things at times. ( Moving from this story a moment. I laughed yesterday when Castalie commented that she'd missed my posts about the beach. Thing is, once it warms up we go to the beach and into the country a lot, so get ready to hear about it a lot *g* ) We dropped Tex off at mam's and picked nanna up right on time. We drove to Stanhope, which is deep in the countryside and has the ford we usually stop at a while. Yesterday though, we stopped at an old prisoner of war camp. Most of the huts had been turned into shops, a garden centre, craft area, farm shop etc. The farm shop sold some lovely stuff. We bought a jar of onion marmalade which is really tasty, if impossible to eat more of a few bites of and nanna tried to get me to eat black pudding, which, just no.
A few of the huts were set out like old houses, so we had a look through those with nanna telling war time stories, then headed into another hut which housed the cafe. It was like walking into an old war time film set. Tables with heavy cloths, a big black range with copper pans, very cool. We only had drinks then, coffee and hot chocolate mixed, just hmmm. A man was singing war time songs and I had to laugh at nanna when she started to dance in the space between the tables. The singer did too *g*
After that it was driving to the ford. A stop on the moors where Corey and I went for a walk next to the stream while James stayed to keep nanna company. I so enjoyed that walk, it was warm, the stream was burbling and the scenery beautiful. We walked further than I expected and I even had to climb up a bank which I wasn't amused at. Thankfully it was a small one as the last thing I needed was to fall down backwards and land in the stream.
Then, it was on to Barnard Castle, stopping at a few farms to buy potatoes, eggs and meat. We ate at Barney and sat in the park a while as Corey played, which really was a good way to end the day. Like I said, I like spending time with nanna, even if she makes me want to gag her at times. Yesterday it was her spiel about me having more children and how if I had more now the gap between them and Corey would be too big. Of course, that was nothing compared to her racist comments. I know it's a generational thing, but standing in one of the pow huts while she looked at a black doll and commented that no one's allowed to make nigger dolls anymore was a cringemaking moment.
Today we're taking my niece to see Ice Age2. She loves spending time with Corey, but taking a three year old to the cinema could be a disaster. First though we need go to my dad's and get Corey's chocolate egg. He's got a load now, I have none. That's so wrong, and yes, I know I shouldn't be eating chocolate eggs but that doesn't mean I don't want to. Or that people are allowed to tell me I'm too old to get chocolate. So. Wrong!
Oh well. Tonight I'll make a big mug of my options hot chocolate and settle in for a night of reading Remix stories. Who needs eggs!

Date: 2006-04-16 10:29 am (UTC)My family has decided that I'm too old for eggs, I feel this is unfair. The girls have ten eggs each at the last count but we still have chocolate bears and snowmen in the fridge from Christmas that they haven't eaten! Tiggy can only have small amounts at a time (she shouldn't really have any at all) and Jessie isn't that fond of chocolate. So they get loads and me? I get one small one. Not that I'm sulking or anything, oh, no.

Date: 2006-04-21 08:53 am (UTC)It really is unfair. Corey's not that keen on chocolate either so I can relate to having chocolate around the house. Really, we should get it and them get something else they'd actually enjoy. But no, it doesn't happen that way.

Date: 2006-04-16 11:45 am (UTC)I wasn't sure about him when he was announced as the new Doctor but he's more than proved himself in my eyes. His smile and the glint in his eyes just seems, somehow, so appropriate for the Doctor.

I've seen Ice Age 2 twice now. I can't say it's the best film I've seen but I've enjoyed it both times :)

Date: 2006-04-16 05:26 pm (UTC)Christopher rocked as the doctor and I didn't want him replaced either, but honestly, David is fantastic too. He plays the role a lot differently but the chemistry between the doctor and Rose is still there.
